GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - The State Government would take various actions for improving the infrastructure of the three hill districts and lot of steps have been already initiated in this regard, said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today.
He was speaking while reviewing the budget announcement implementation status of Hill Area Development, Revenue and Minority Welfare departments here.
Sonowal directed that steps be taken for construction of a State Highway from Lanka to Haflong via Umrangsu in order to improve road connectivity in the hill districts. He instructed the Hill Area Development Department to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the project in coordination with the Public Works Department.
Sonowal also directed that work be taken up for constructing a road at the Nagaland border in Dima Hasao district and he instructed that steps be taken to build the initial 5 KM of the road on a priority basis.
The Chief Minister instructed the Hill Area Development Department to construct a library-cum-convention centre at Dima Hasao district for immortalizing those personalities who made immense contribution in the fields of art, culture and literature of the 16 tribes inhabiting the district.
Reviewing the functioning of the Revenue department, Sonowal called for swift and successful implementation of �Ease of Doing Business� policy of the government and he also asked the department to take steps towards increasing the salary of the Gaon Burhas (Village Heads).
He also directed speedy conversion of the Tahsildari system, currently in place in seven districts, to the Moujadari system.
