IMPHAL, July 8 - Unidentified persons torched Manipur University�s Indoor stadium at its Canchipur campus near here on Saturday night, police said. The fire has reportedly badly damaged the sports unit office of the university.

Manipur Education Minister Th Radheshyam accompanied by SP Imphal West district H Jogeshchandra inspected the spot on Sunday.

Bandh relaxed: The indefinite Statewide bandh since July 6 has been relaxed temporarily following an understanding between Manipur Government and striking Joint Tribal Student Bodies on Saturday night.

A memorandum of Understanding was inked in the presence of Ministers Th Radheshyam, Nemcha Kipgen, Commissioner Education-S and Director Education-S, according to a press release.

However, the Joint Tribal Student Bodies warned that they will resume the agitation if their demands are not fulfilled by July 10. The demands include restoration of normalcy in the functioning of Manipur University, constituting a high level independent inquiry commission to solve the frequent problems in the University, etc.
