Indo-Bangla sub-group meet on Tipaimukh

NEW DELHI, Aug 27 � The first meeting of the India-Bangladesh Sub-group on Tipaimukh Hydroelectric project got underway here today.

The two-day meeting is slated to formulate the terms of reference for a joint study to examine all issues related to the Project including the proposal for joint participation in the project. The terms of the joint survey work was finalised today.

The Detailed Project Report prepared by India has been handed over to Bangladesh, said sources.

The Tipaimukh Project is opposed by Bangladesh, even as India announced a joint venture to execute the Project in Manipur.

The meeting is being held in pursuance of the decisions taken during the last Foreign Office Consultations between India and Bangladesh held in New Delhi last month.
