By Prabir sil

AGARTALA, Nov 6 Action against Indian insurgents and dismantling of their hideouts in Bangladesh would be the top agenda when Indo-Bangla border guards meet at Sylhet beginning November 17, according to official sources.

Besides, the BSF authority would take up border crimes distribution of fake Indian notes, dacoity and theft during the Inspector General (IG) level meeting of BSF and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).

After militancy, Indian security agencies are worried over the distribution of fake Indian notes from across the border. It could be dangerous if menace of fake Indian notes in the North East is not checked immediately.

BSF sources said the authority has already prepared agenda for the routine IG level meeting with the BGB.

The agenda include erection of single row fencing, maintenance of boundary pillars, development works along Indo-Bangla border and breaching of barbed wire fencing, said a senior BSF official here today.

Giving details on the agenda, he said smuggling of forest products would also come up for discussion in the upcoming four-day meeting. Besides, the BSF would suggest holding games and cultural programmes with BGB as part of confidence building measures.

On the BGB side, five issues are expected to come up for discussion in the meeting. The issues include firing-killing-injuring of Bangladeshi nationals by Indian citizens, kidnapping of Bangla nationals by civilians or BSF, smuggling of various drugs, fire arms and development works inside 150 yards.

Three IGs of BSF Meghalaya, Mizoram-Cachar and Tripura Frontiers would attend the meeting while IG of Meghalaya Frontier Sudhesh Kumar would lead the BSF side in the meeting.

The BSF team which is scheduled to leave for Sylhet either on November 15 or 16, would also include Sector Commanders and Staff Officers of the three BSF Frontiers.

While Regional Commander of BGB Md Anisur Rahaman would lead the BGB team, Sector Commanders of South-East and North-East would join the conference.
