By Correspondent

DOOMDOOMA, Oct 18 - The 9.95-km long bridge, which is Indias longest and Asias second-longest bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Dholla (Saikhowaghat) with Sadiya of Tinsukia district in Upper Assam will be commissioned in July 2016.

Addressing a press meet at Zero Point at Dholla on Friday, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge ) for Sports and Youth Affairs , Sarbananda Sonowal informed as above. He also said that adequate security measure, would be provided on the bridge.

He also instructed the company engaged in construction of the approach road on either side of the bridge to plant trees and to take other measures for beautification, so that it can be an attractive tourist spot. He also instructed the construction company to speed up the work of construction of the approach road after negotiation with the locals .

It may be mentioned here that the Dholla - Sadiya bridge which is being constructed by Navayug Engineering Company of Hyderabad is a dream project of the people of Sadiya. They hope that with the opening of the bridge, development of Sadiya will be accelerated as this sub-division of Tinsukia district situated in the easternmost corner of Assam has been the most neglected place in the State since independence .
