Indian TT teams advance in World Championship

GUWAHATI, March 28 � The Indian men and women table tennins team advanced to the higher stage from second division league in the ongoing World Table Tennis Championship, informs Indian team manager Tridib Duvarah from Dortmund, Germany.

In second division group league matches, the women team, comprising of Mauma Das, K Kamini and Palami Ghatak defeated England 3-2, Italy 3-1, Nigeria 3-1 and Estonia 3-0 but went down to Israel 1-3.

On the other hand, their men counterpart, comprising of Sarath Kamal, A Amalraj, Soumyadeep Roy and Soumyajit Ghosh got the better of Nigeria 3-0, Canada 3-1, Finland 3-0 but lost to Romania 1-3. Sarath Kamal, however, could not play in two matches due to back pain. Duvarah informed that in the next matches Sarath will play as he has got rid of the injury.
