By The Assam Tribune

NEW DELHI, June 20 (PTI): Skipper Surinder Kaur led from the front, scoring from two penalty corners as India trounced Canada 4-1 in the third hockey test to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series at Tamanawis Park, Surrey today.

India thus won the India-Canada Cup having beaten the hosts in the opening game while the second match was drawn.

India led 2-1 at half time after Anna Kozniuk had given Canada the lead from a penalty corner in the 10th minute. Surinder restored parity in the 17th minute and four minutes later Jasjeet Kaur Handa gave India the lead from another penalty corner conversion. The Indian captain struck again in the 38th minute to make it 3-1 before striker Rani Rampal sealed Canadas fate with a field goal in the 54th minute.

Shoaib not ready for Test return: Afridi

Karachi, June 20 (PTI): Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi does not think fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is ready for a comeback to Test cricket.

Afridi said in his Captains Corner show on Geo television after the Asia Cup defeat to India last night that he didnt think Shoaib could play Tests. I dont think he is ready despite his comeback in this tournament. I think his fitness will be tested in Test matches, Afridi said.

Pakistani selectors are due to announce on Sunday the touring squad for the limited over matches and Test matches in England.

Shoaib played his first international matches in 14 months time in the Asia Cup, taking three against Sri Lanka and going wicketless against India. He looked to be struggling with his match fitness.
