Independence Day celebrated with national fervour

DIPHU, Aug 17 - The 73rd Independence Day was observed in Diphu, the district headquarters of Karbi Anglong autonomous district on August 15 with national fervour through numerous programmes. In a wonderful turn of event, no local militant organization called for a boycott of the day this time. Enthusiasm of the people was at its peak.

The official programme was organised by district administration at the parade ground of Diphu Government College where the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang unfurled the National Tricolour and received salutation from the combined contingent of CRPF, Assam Police, NCC, Scouts and Guides and school children. A variety of tribal cultural group dances were presented by various cultural organisations which kept thousands of spectators spellbound.

IN DHEMAJI: Defying the militants� dictate, the Dhemaji district administration celebrated the country�s 73rd Independence Day with massive participation of the contingents of police, Scouts & Guides, NCC, school children and community people.

State�s Hills Area Development minister Sum Ronghang unfurled the National Tricolour at Dhemaji Court field parade ground in the presence of government officials and public leaders. Addressing the people on the occasion, Ronghang highlighted various developmental initiatives taken by the State government.

At Jonai, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Nisarge Hivare hoisted the National Flag at Gandhi Maidan before massive gathering of the government officers, panchayat leaders and local public. The Mising Autonomous Council, Gogamukh also celebrated Independence Day with a day-long programme.

Report of peaceful Independence Day celebration with enthusiasm have been reported from Simenchapori, Dimow, Silapthar, Sissiborgaon, Moridhal, Gogamukh and Muchkhowa areas.

IN BONGAIGAON: In Bongaigaon, Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan unfurled the Tricolour at Gandhi Maidan here in connection with the celebration of 73rd Independence Day which was organised centrally by the administration.

In his speech, Khan said giving and taking bribes both are offence, so he appealed to the people not to encourage such evil practices. He also highlighted various government schemes implemented in the district successfully.

At Chirang district headquarters Kajalgaon, Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar hoisted the flag at the district Parade ground.

IN BOKAKHAT: The 73rd Independence Day of India was celebrated centrally at Bokakhat Stadium ground by the Bokakhat civil administration with pomp and grandeur.

The SDO (C) of Bokakhat, Vivek Shyam unfurled the Tricolour amidst a huge gathering of students, government employees, officials and public.

Some prominent personalities were felicitated publicly. Besides, two teenaged short documentary film makers Dhritiman Kakoty and Roktim Hazarika were felicitated for getting best flim award ( The Man Who Speaks Nature) in the 5th International Flim festival at Godollo in Hungary. Monoj Gogoi, Kaziranga -based conservationist was also felicitated.

IN GOLOKGANJ: Amidst pomp and pleasure and participated by more than 5000 jubilant students, teachers, citizens, police, para-military forces, NCC and Scouts and Guides, the 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at the playground of Jagamohan Vidyapith, Golokganj.

Chayanika Thakuria, Circle Officer hoisted the National flag. She also took the salute of the police, para-military forces, NCC and Scouts and Guides. On the occasion, meritorious students of the area were accorded felicitation. Jimli Dutta, Chairperson, Gauripur Town Committee hoisted the Tricolour at the historic Mahamaya playground and observed the Raksha Bandhan festival on the premises of Tarini Priya Chatuspathy.

IN HAFLONG: With rest of the country, the district of Dima Hasao, celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with great enthusiasm at the Kendriya Vidyalaya Playground near Assam Rifles on Thursday.

The chief guest, Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), hoisted the National Flag.

IN MUSHALPUR: The 73rd Independence Day was centrally celebrated by Baksa district administration with a day-long programme at the district headquarter Mushalpur at Bathoupuri stadium on August 15, where Bhaskar Pegu, Deputy Commissioner of Baksa unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the Assam Police, Home Guard and students of various schools, ANN Service reports from Jalah.

IN LUMDING: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at Lumding along with the rest of the State in a befitting manner. The National Flag was hoisted by Shibu Mishra, MLA, Lumding LAC at the Shahid Field in the presence of a large gathering.
