Incessant rains cause water-logging at Teok

By Correspondent

TEOK, May 23 - Continuous rains since the last few days has caused water-logging at various places of Teok town causing hardship to vehicle owners as well as pedestrians.

About 200-metre portion of the NH-37 at Teok Hospital Tiniali has remained submerged under knee-deep water most of the time since mid-April. Due to lack of drainage facility on the sides of the highway, excess rain waters have inundated a portion of the highway, thereby creating a pool on the road.

Since Hospital Tiniali here is an important area of this tiny township, it has caused hardship to the commuters, specially the school students, as there are four schools in the area at a radius of 100 metre distance.

A shopkeeper near the intersection point said that every day one or more accidents occur in the area, which is never recorded. If this continues for some more time, the condition of the highway, submerged under water, would deteriorate and may lead to any eventuality. The citizens here have demanded immediate steps from the concerned authority to drain off the excess water.
