Incessant rainfall disrupts normal life in Tinsukia district

DOOMDOOMA, July 10 - Incessant rains for the last 36 hours in Tinsukia district has disrupted normal life. Continuous rain has caused waterlogging in many places. People preferred to remain indoors and hence very few people could be seen in the markets and other public places.

Along with the district, it has been raining continuously in the neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. Consequently, the rivers in the district are on the rising trend. According to official reports, though the rivers are yet to cross the danger level, they may do so tonight if rain continues.

On the other hand, the deplorable condition of the National Highway-37 between Borhapjan and Tipuk has caused a great problem for the vehicular traffic. Potholes of different sizes have got formed at various places along the NH are now filled up with rain water causing a great problem for the drivers. Moreover , waterlogging at Borhapjan, near Doomdooma Public Bus Stand and at Rupai Siding have multiplied the plight of the drivers as well as the commuters.
