GUWAHATI, Aug 24 - Further improvement in the overall flood situation has been marked today with the number of people still under direct impact of flood being reduced to 4,31,347 in 606 villages under 21 revenue circles of nine districts. However, the Brahmaputra is still flowing above its danger level at Dhubri and its tributary Dhansiri (South) is also flowing above its danger level at Numaligarh.
According to the official flood bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) here, with the report of death of a person in Dhubri district today, the figure concerning flood-related death during the second wave of flood this year has shot up to 72. Thus, the total number of flood-related death during the two waves of flood this year has also shot up to 156.
The districts still facing the direct impact of flood include � Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Chirang, South Salmara, Goalpara, Morigaon, Nagaon and Golaghat.
