GUWAHATI, March 25 � The All Assam Lawyers Association has demanded immediate implementation of the Assam Accord pointing out that non implementation of the same has posed a threat to the interests of the indigenous communities of the State.
�Non implementation of the Assam Accord which was signed after a six-year-long struggle has created many problems in the State endangering the very existence of the indigenous communities,� said publicity secretary of the association Aparajita Bhuyan in a press release.
Meanwhile, in a meeting held here recently, the executive committee said that there is a need to maintain the ecological balance. The association also insisted that the water bodies and forest areas of the State be freed of encroachment.
