ILP stir continues in Manipur

IMPHAL, May 26 - The public movement demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system by enacting three Bills passed in Manipur Assembly on August 31 last year continued in the State on Thursday.

Shouting slogans such as �We want ILP in Manipur�, the girl students of Ibotonsana higher secondary school here took out a protest march but were stopped by women police.

Meanwhile, members of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) spearheading the public movement, locked up the office of Janata Dal(U) Manipur unit here as part of the ongoing protest. On Wednesday, two girl students of TG higher secondary school were arrested when they staged a sit-in protest.

Flood: Meanwhile, though the flood waters are receding in the low-lying areas including in the State capital, some habitations, crop land and fish farms in Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts are still under water.

Explosion: One person was reportedly injured when a bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded near a school on Moirangpurel-Maphou Road around 4 pm today, sources said. The injured person has been sent to a nearby hospital and is said to be stable.
