Illicit liquor seized from train, river port

DHUBRI, Aug 30 - In an excise raid carried out at the Golakganj railway station, about 110 litres of Illicit liquor was seized by the excise officials from the Kamakhya Dhubri Passenger Train.

A case was registered in this regard but no arrests were made in this connection as the bootleggers managed to escape.

However, in another raid carried out at Dhubri and Gauripur town on Wednesday, illicit liquor of around 500 litres was seized by the excise officials.

The seizures were mainly made from the river ports of Dhubri town.

The officials stated that the consignments were brought from the neighbouring districts by unscrupulous vendors on waterways. In this connection, another case was registered by the excise officials but no arrest was made.

Addictive tablets seized: The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel seized a large quantity of addictive Yaba tablets along the Indo-Bangla border near the Kushnimara border outpost in South Salamara Mankachar district.

BSF informed that it has seized 4,540 Yaba tablets worth Rs 1,35,000, which was to be smuggled across the border.
