DIBRUGARH, Dec 26 - In a significant move, a six-day-long training programme to impart training on alternative means of livelihood to illicit liquor brewers started today at Derial Labour Club in Duliajan.
The training programme is an initiative by the Dibrugarh district administration in collaboration with the Excise department and United Rural Self Employment Training Institute with an aim to rehabilitate the illicit liquor brewers of the district and towards making Dibrugarh district illicit liquor free.
Altogether 60 families from Duliajan and Tengakhat are taking part in the training programme. In the inauguration meeting, the Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, Superintendent of Excise Ajay Kumar Bayan, Director of United RSETI M Hasan, Lead District Manager Hemanta Paik, DDM, Nabard Lipi Deori and other excise officials were also present. The training programme will conclude on December 31, a release stated.
