By Correspondent

RAHA, Aug 12 - A joint police team from Nagaon and Raha raided the house of one Iqbadul Haque at Bhakatgaon village under Raha Police Station and seized 2,500 litres of kerosene illegally stocked there on Friday night.

According to information available, the police team acting on a tip-off raided the house and found that 2,500 litres of kerosene had been stored in 10 big and three small barrels.

Further, 30-35 kg of chemical powder, nine bottles of sulpheric acid and some pipes were also seized from the house. The chemical powder and sulpheric acid are normally used for mixing with kerosine so as to convert it into petrol.

Police arrested one person identified as Farooq, an inhabitant of Monipurtup village in this connection.

Since the storage of kerosene is illegal, a case was registered at Raha Police Station, besides another case under the Essential Commodities Act.
