GUWAHATI, Jan 8 - The Kamrup Metro district administration carried out a major eviction drive in No 2 Kharghuli village under Chandrapur revenue circle on Saturday.
The drive was undertaken following an order from the Gauhati High Court in two cases, said an official statement.
One case involved one Rishi Dev Rai who had constructed a brick kiln illegally on 26 bighas of government land.
On the other hand, one Rajkishore Rai also had constructed an illegal brick kiln on 36 bighas of government land.
During Saturday�s drive, the chimneys, kilns and labour houses were evicted by the administration.
The eviction was conducted with the help of city police. After completion of the eviction operation all the collected materials were handed over to the police, VDP and village headmen.
In another eviction operation conducted in Beltola area on Saturday, some shops, hotels and houses which were illegally constructed on government land were evicted by the district administration.
