MANGALDAI, May 11 � Acting on a secret tip-off, a Forest Protection team from Mangaldai Forest Beat under North Kamrup Forest Division, Rangiya assisted by police, on Thursday busted a saw mill running illegally at Jonaramchowka under Mangaldai Police Station.
According to Beat Officer Samsul Haque the operation which was carried out in the early morning, led to seizure of the bench mill along with a generator set and blades from the venue, but no person involved in the illegal activity could be nabbed.
Although the authorities here reportedly seized 11 such saw mills from different parts of Darrang district in recent times, a few such mills are allegedly still running secretly in some remote areas bordering Udalguri district. � Correspondent
