Illegal khoir logs seized

DOOMDOOMA, Aug 24 - A team of forest personnel led by the Ranger of Sadiya Forest Range, Bibit Dihingia seized khoir logs worth several lakh rupees from the bank of the river Brahmaputra at Sadiya Sunpura Smashan Saal Tera Mile early this morning.

According to reports , timber mafias had stacked those timbers brought from Arunachal Pradesh on the river bank to transport them to some other place through the water route. Receiving this information, Ranger Bibit Dihingia along with Beat Officer Suramoni Gajrel, forest guard Amandeep Khatowal, Dhiraj Bora and Gopal Bhuyan reached the spot around 5 am this morning and seized the timbers. Sensing danger, the labourers engaged by the timber mafias to guard the illegal khoir logs fled from the scene. The Forest department is preparing to bring the seized timbers to the Forest Range Office at Sadiya.
