GUWAHATI, Jan 29: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kaziranga University, Jorhat, here on Thursday.


The MoU, signed by Prof TG Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Dr PK Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Kaziranga University, is intended to enable both the institutes to closely engage in the areas of curriculum enhancement, collaborative work in the field of research and development, and boosting entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region.


IIT Guwahati will also assist Kaziranga University in setting up advanced laboratories for experimental work in various fields of Engineering and Sciences.
“This MoU is a step towards connecting with institutes in the North East and will contribute towards our goal of building a network of excellence. IIT Guwahati, through its highly qualified faculty and excellent research infrastructure, will extend every possible support to Kaziranga University. Our institute will provide necessary support and guidance to both student entrepreneurs as well as aspiring investors of Kaziranga University,” said Prof Sitharam.


In his speech, Dr Mishra invited the faculty members of IIT Guwahati to play advisory roles in developing the curriculum as well as implementing other major plans of Kaziranga University as well as to join the university’s board in advisory roles “so that the aspirations of the students of the North East region for quality education are fulfilled”
