IIT-G organises 9th Half Marathon

GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - As part of its 19th edition of Techniche, IIT Guwahati today organised its ninth Guwahati Half Marathon, a running event for promoting better social and human interaction among the residents in and around Guwahati.

The marathon had its theme �Run for awareness of organ donation � live life give life.�

The Guwahati Half Marathon-2017 appealed to the people to be a part of the change which was for the betterment of society. It urged the people to become more responsible towards issues like poverty, illiteracy, hunger, lack of development, inflation, etc.

Professional footballer Durga Boro, who was the lead striker for North East United FC in the first season of ISL, was the chief guest of the event. Abu Nechim, fast bowler from Royal Challengers Banaglore team, was the guest of honour, while Bharat Nayak, Editorial Director and co-founder of The Logical Indian, was the special guest.

The event started with the professionals� marathon of 21-km run in the morning at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium, GNRC Road, Dispur, followed by a six-km run for the general public.
