IIE Guwahati celebrates 22nd foundation day

GUWAHATI, April 2 � Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati, the only national institute with its headquarters in the North-east, celebrated its 22nd foundation day with a two-day programme at its campus on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The guest speaker on the occasion was Prof Dipak C Jain, former dean, Kellogs School of Management Chicago, and present director of Sasin Management School in Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.

Prof Jain enthralled the gathering with his thought-provoking lecture on different aspects of management and its evolution over the years, stressing the need for promotion of an entrepreneurial society as a model for holistic socio-economic development of the region.

The deliberation was followed by an interactive session with entrepreneurs, students, academia and other dignitaries present.

The second day�s programme started with the theme song of IIE. IIE director Manoj Kumar Das apprised the gathering about the journey of the institute and its significant activities and achievements. The highlight of the day was the foundation day speech delivered by Alok B Shriram, president, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi and deputy managing director, DCM Shriram Industries Limited. He shared his views on different aspects on entrepreneurship, emphasising the importance of the North-east with its potential for entrepreneurial growth.

To commemorate the occasion of the foundation day, an initiative of installation of a time capsule was taken to archive the events, activities and achievements of IIE over the past two decades. The celebration came to an end with a cultural programme.
