GUWAHATI, Sept 25 - Idd-uz-Zuha, the holy festival of sacrifice of Muslims, was observed in the State along with the rest of the country today. Religious fervour and traditional gaiety ruled the roost as people in large numbers participated on the occasion in a befitting manner.

The city, too, had its fair share of the celebrations, with thousands of devout Muslims congregating in the mosques and idgah maidans in the morning to offer their namaaz.

The central function was held at the Machkhowa Idgah Maidan which drew people in huge numbers. Following the prayers, people irrespective of their religious affiliation, embraced one another and exchanged pleasantries and sweets.

Various other idgah maidans and mosques, such as Athgaon Kabarstan, Islampur, Ambari, Chandmari, Lakhtokia, Kumarpara, Hatigaon, Santipur, Panjabari, Ulubari, etc., also witnessed spontaneous participation.
