Idd-ul-Fitre celebrated with religious fervour

GUWAHATI, June 26 - Along with the rest of the country, Idd-ul-Fitre was celebrated all over the State today with religious fervour.

In Kokrajhar: BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary took part in the special prayers organised on the occasion of Idd-ul-Fitre at the Zakir Hussain LP School premises here.

BTC Executive Members Doneswar Goyari, Rajib Kumar Brahma, BTC MCLA Abdul Ali Mondal, former BTC EM�s Derhasat Basumatary and Mono Kumar Brahma, among others, also attended the special prayers.

Talking to mediapersons later, Hagrama Mohilary said that he prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of this region. He also conveyed his greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Idd-ul-Fitre.

In Rangiya: Faithfuls representing every strata of Muslim society celebrated Idd-ul-Fitre with religious fervour and joy.

In the morning, Namaaz was offered by the people at the Idgah Maidan near the Highway Chowk. Hundreds of religious-minded people in their traditional best assembled to offer their Dui Karat Namaaz. The community prayer was attended by Imam Mahibul Hoque from Dhing in Nagaon.

The Imam stated the significance of the festival and appealed to all sections of the people to maintain peace, harmony and fraternity in society so as to usher in world peace. Faithfuls coming from Terakuchi, Sahan, Islampur, Jayantipur, Dimu, Solmari, Kaniha, Rangiya NT Road, Tarani, Tulsibari, besides jawans from the CRPF, SSB and Army were present on the occasion.

Later, each one greeted the other.

In Nagaon: Special Idd prayers was held at the Town Idgah which was led by Maulana Hifzur Rahman. All the people present prayed for world peace and prosperity of mankind.

Earlier, Nurul Islam Qasimi highlighted the ideals of Islam and significance of fasting and celebrating Idd. The president of Anjuman-e-Nagaon Town Idgah, former Minister Rakibul Hussain expressed his Idd greetings to one and all.

Idd prayers were also held at different Iddgahs and mosques in and around Nagaon town.

In Tinsukia: After observing the mandatory month-long Roza, people from the Muslim community celebrated Idd-ul-Fitre here today.

Faithfuls from all over the district converged at the Idgahs and Masjids for taking part in the community prayers. Seeking peace and prosperity, the people wished Idd Mubarak to each other and celebrated the festival with mouth-watering delicacies.
