Id-ul-Zuha celebrated across state

GUWAHATI, Aug 22 - Id-ul-Zuha, the festival of sacrifice was celebrated across the state today with traditional fervour and gaiety. The Muslim people offered their namaz in various Idgahs and Masjids.

Silchar staff Correspondent adds: The festival of Id-ul-Zuha was celebrated across Cachar district amidst religious fervour. In Silchar, the Id namaz was held at the Itkhola Idgah wherein people thronged in large numbers to offer prayers. After the namaz, people were seen exchanging greetings and sweets among each other.

BJP�s lone minority MLA from Sonai constituency of Cachar district, Aminul Haque Laskar and former AIUDF Legislator from Katigorah constituency Maulana Ataur Rahman Majharbhuiya, were seen hugging each other at the Berenga Idgah, adjacent to Silchar town as they offered the holy namaz together with a large number of people on the occasion.

Conveying his greetings to the people, Majharbhuiya, �The festival is not just for the Muslims but for one and all. People must come forward and pledge towards making their homes, the state and the country a better and peaceful place to live in.�

Meanwhile, Cachar police maintained a strict vigil across the district during the day. SP Rakesh Roushan claimed that the festival passed off peacefully with no untoward incident anywhere in the district.

Nalbari correspondent ads: Id-ul-Zuha was celebrated in Nalbari district with great enthusiasm. People assembled at various Idgahs to offer their Namaz . The Muslim community of Mukalmua, Ghograpar, Chamata, Batsor, Barbhag , Bahjani also celebrated Id-ul- Zuha in their respective areas.

Tinsukia correspondent adds: Muslim community of Tinsukia district celebrated Id-ul-Zuha. In Tinsukia, people assembled in various Idgahs and Masjids namely Naupukhuri Idgah, Dhekiajuri Idgah, Lalbangla Masjid, Nai Masjid, Bilal Masjid, Usman Gani Masjid and Hijuguri Masjid to offer their namaz.

Dhupdhara correspondent adds: The Muslim community of Dhupdhara in Goalpara district today celebrated Id-ul-Zuha, exchanging greetings and participating in feasts with their near and dear ones. Despite an overcast sky, hundreds of faithful turned up at the historic Dhupdhara Idgah of the district. The morning prayer started at 8 am, which was led by Moulana Mufti Abdullah Rashidi. After the prayers, the Imam also prayed for brotherhood, peace and prosperity in the world.

Udalguri Correspondent adds: Along with the rest of the country, the Muslim people of Udalguri district celebrated Id-ul-Zuha , the festival of sacrifice with religious fervour and enthusiasm. People offered prayers in various Idgahs for peace, prosperity and amity. Hundreds of people thronged Idgahs and offered prayers on the occasion.

In Tangla, the people thronged Bara Masjid Idgah and Banseria Idgah maidans for special Id prayers. Maulana Mohammed Samaun Ahmed Noori led the prayers at Bara Masjid Idgah. Sweets were also exchanged among the people.
