ICU demanded at Dhubri Civil Hospital

By Correspondent

GOLAKGANJ, April 26 The Dhubri Bikash Aru Pragati Manch has submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri demanding to set up an ICU at the Dhubri civil hospital so that the 200-bed premier hospital of the district can serve the serious patients of the district better. Furthermore, the memorandum also demanded that concerned doctors be appointed in every department. The memorandum also demanded that the proposed Dhubri Medical College be set up soon.

The memorandum said that if the aforementioned demands are settled, the patients in and around the district will definitely get a big relief from travelling either to Guwahati or Siliguri, which are nearly six-seven hours away from Dhubri. It is often noticed that many serious patients die while on their way to Guwahati or Siliguri, only due to non-availability of emergency medical facilities and treatment at the Dhubri Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, Dr Khokan Choudhury, the Joint Director of Dhubri Medical Department has revealed that the CT Scan equipment has remained out of order since the last three years and there is no Radiologist to look after the Radiology department. Most importantly, the lack of adequate number of doctors at the Gynaecology Department has hit the patients quite hard.
