ICCR event at IITG tomorrow

GUWAHATI, March 8 - The Guwahati Regional Office of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) of the Ministry of External Affairs will organise an international cultural event titled �Rhythms of Caucasus� on the evening of March 10 in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.

Prof Gautam Biswas, Director, IIT Guwahati will inaugurate the programme as the chief guest. The cultural event, which will begin at 7 pm in the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium at IIT Guwahati, a five-member group of artistes from Russia will present its performances.

The programme consisting of rhythmic compositions with drums (dhol) and virtuoso dance tricks will reflect the way of life and spiritual world of the Caucasus highlanders. The ensemble �Rhythms of the Caucasus� is winner of many international competitions and festivals. The musicians of the ensemble have toured more than 30 countries of Europe, Asia, Americas, Africa, besides Australia and New Zealand.
