Ibobi assures justice in Richard�s death

IMPHAL, May 1 � Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on Monday said efforts are on to bring justice in the death of a Manipuri architecture student in Bangalore.

Ibobi speaking to media on the sideline of a �home coming� ceremony of 103 militants here on Monday, said efforts are on to book those involved in the incident and confirmed writing a letter to his Karnataka counterpart in this regard.

Congress MP from Manipur Dr Th Meinya raised the issue in the Lok Sabha and demanded an inquiry into the alleged murder.

Karnataka Chief Minister D Sadananda Gowda has ordered the police to register an FIR in the death case of Manipuri student Richard Loitam, according to a press release of National Convenor of BJP�s North East India Sampark Cell Sunil Deodhar.

Karnataka State Home minister R Ashoka has assured immediate action once the forensic report is received which is expected within one week.

Richard, a first year student of architecture at the Acharya NRV Institute of Architecture, Bangalaru was alleged to have died of cerebral haemorrhage from a severe head injury in his hostel room on April 18.

Reports said the 19-year-old had a tiff with some fellow students while watching television and the next day he was found dead in his hostel room.
