IAF pays tribute to Marshal Arjan Singh

GUWAHATI, April 17 - In order to commemorate and mark the centenary celebration of the late Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh, all Air Force stations of the North East organised a half marathon run of 21 km �Centenary Run� on April 14 on the eve of the birth centenary of the late Marshal.

At Air Force Station Guwahati, the race was flagged by Air Commodore Shashank Misra VM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Guwahati. A total of 100 air warriors of the station participated enthusiastically in the �Centenary Run�.

At Air Force Station Digaru, the race was flagged by Group Captain CK Rasyara, Station Commander, Air Force Station Digaru. A total of 250 air warriors of the station participated in the �Centenary Run�.

At Silchar, a total of 100 air warriors of the station participated in the marathon run flagged off by the Station Commander, Air Force Station Kumbigram, Silchar.

The run was conducted to propagate the accomplishments and to pay rich tribute to the legendary Marshal of the IAF amongst all Air Force personnel. All the station commanders emphasised emulating the precedents set by the Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh and following his four simple rules in one�s daily life. The four rules were: be thorough in profession, complete the job at hand to the satisfaction of everyone, have implicit faith in the subordinates and efforts should be honest and sincere.

All the air warriors were motivated to inculcate camaraderie and sportsmanship attributes and to adopt a healthy life style. The air warriors also took a pledge to leave no stone unturned to carry on with the legacy of Marshal Arjan Singh for the glory of the Indian Air Force, a defence statement said.
