I-D table tennis in city from Nov 3

GUWAHATI, Oct 27 � The 58th Stag Inter District and All Assam Table Tennis Championship, organised by the Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA), will be held at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here from November 3 to 7.

Giving details about the championship, ATTA president Rockybul Hussain said in a press conference that this time 23 events will be conducted in different categories. They are expecting about 400 players from 13 affiliated units from all over the State. The tournament has been organised in memory of freedom fighter Sitaram Agarwal.

ATTA secretary Tridib Duvarah revealed that 10 tables of international standard will be set up for the championship and due to substantial increase of events in the national and international arena they have also increased the number of events so that players of all age group can take part in the meet. Along with champions and runners-ups, medals will be given to the third position holders also, Duvarah said.

The participating units are-Guwahati, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Duliajan, Sivasagar, Namrup, Nazira, North Lakhimpur, Mangaldai, Tezpur, Silchar, NF Railway, OIL. The championship will be inaugurated at 9 am on November 3 and the closing function is slated for 2 pm on November 7.
