Hyundai to roll out Kona Electric SUV in India on 9 July

Hyundai is all set to launch its Kona Electric SUV in India on 9th July. The upcoming electric SUV is the first all-electric model of Hyundai in India. At an expected price tag of Rs.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the all-new Kona Electric will be manufactured locally at the company's Chennai facility.

Kona Electric looks almost similar to the standard Kona with some notable changes including the lack of the front grille that has been replaced by a unique design pattern, revised bumpers and the absence of alloy wheels. Kona Electric in other global markets, featuers lots of goodies and safety features which can be anticipated to be offered on the Indian model too.

The Kona EV comes in two versions in international markets. One is a 39kW battery pack model and one other is a 64kW version. On a single charge, the former features a claimed range of 312km while the later has 482km.

The Indian Hyundai Kona Electric is expected to get the 39kW lithium-ion battery pack model which produces maximum power and torque figures of 136hp and 395Nm respectively. The claimed top speed is 155kmph and 0-100kmph time is merely 9.7 seconds. The battery can be charged to 80% in just 54 minutes with the aid of a 100kW DC fast charger.
