Hyderabad in total control

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 19 Hyderabad pushed Assam to the back seat removing one wicket after taking a commendable 247-run first innings lead. At close, in second innings, Assam lost opener Amit Sinha and yet to open its account.

On the penultimate day of the four-day Plate Division B group match at the Nehru Stadium here today, the visitors declared their first innings at 474 for six. Two of their batsmen, opener Akshat Reddy (112) and Syed Ahmed Quadri (107 n.o) cracked centuries. Reddy, who was unbeaten on 82 off 178 deliveries yesterday, took 49 balls this morning to complete his deserving century. Other overnight unbeaten batsman T Suman was out for 88. Centurion Quadri faced 155 balls for his unbeaten 107. His quickfire knock was studded with 15 boundaries.

Assam bowlers today failed to put much impact on the Hyderabad batsmen and almost all the bowlers were punished all round the wicket. The wicket also seemed to be easy today from the first session onwards as both pacers and spinners had to toil a lot in beating the Hyderabad batsmen. Ibrahim Khalil and Hanuma Vihari contributed 37 n.o. and 29 respectively to the Hyderabad total. However, Abu Nechim Ahmed and Tarjinder Singh came out with two wickets each while Gokul Sharma was the other successful bowler with one wicket today.
