IMPHAL, Aug 27 � Remembering the historic agitation launched by students against the artificial food scarcity in the State on this day in 1965, the All Manipur Students� Union (AMSU) today observed the Hunger Marchers� Day which is better known as Chaklam Khongchat Ningsing Numit here today.
Family members of the student leaders who laid down their lives during the agitation, leaders of AMSU and students of educational institutions paid floral tributes to the memory of the four students at the students� memorial complex.
Later, a rally was organised with active participation of thousands of students who later converged at the DM Multipurpose Hall for a public meeting. The students also raised slogans such as �implement the Inner Line Permit System�, �don�t let outsiders control our foodgrains�, etc.
