Hundreds block rail track in Dibrugarh

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, Sept 6 - Hundreds of people staged a blockade on the rail track near Convoy road intersection here on Saturday. They reportedly blocked Dibrugarh-Ledo passenger train from entering into the town station for more than two hours in protest against the death of one Binod Mahato, who allegedly fell into an open culvert of the railways near the track.

Binod, a resident of Graham Bazar, had reportedly fallen into the culvert through an open gap on Friday and his body was recovered next day. The blockade was called off after railway officials rushed to the spot and offered to compensate for the loss of life of Mahato and also promised to cover the culvert.
