GUWAHATI, Feb 24 - In a disturbing development that also caused a lot of embarrassment to the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), the Physics question paper of the ongoing Higher Secondary (HSSLC) examination was leaked today.

The AHSEC cancelled the examination following a complaint from Dhubris BN College authorities that the leaked question paper went viral through cell-phones of students.

We verified the complaint and found it to be authentic, following which the examination was cancelled. We have instituted an internal inquiry into the development, an AHSEC official said.

The examination was scheduled for 1.30 pm today.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has also ordered an inquiry into the leakage, saying that if necessary, the probe should be handed over to the CID.

Meanwhile, expressing serious concern over the leakage, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) said that the developments amounted to playing with the future of the student community, besides undermining the credibility of the AHSEC under the Department of Education.

The AASU also demanded booking of the culprits responsible for the question paper leakage and stringent punishment to them.
