HSSLC paper leak: 12 students among 16 arrested

IMPHAL, April 7 - Imphal West Cyber Crime Unit has arrested 16 persons, including 12 students of Class XI and XII, who uploaded question papers on social media prior to the Manipur HSSLC examination 2017.

The arrested were paraded before the media at the Conference Hall of Superintendent of Police, Imphal West.

Additional Superintendent of Police and Cyber Crime Unit Imphal West in-charge Dr S Ibomcha Singh said the unit made the arrest within 24 hours afer the SP informed Officer-in-charge Imphal West in this regard following a complaint lodged by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) Secretary Dr Maisnam Biyasagar on April 5.

Dr Ibomcha said further investigation is on to find out from where the question papers got leaked. He said the arrested students of Class XI and XII will soon be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

COHSEM had lodged another complaint to the Cyber Crime Unit after the supposed Physics question papers were leaked on WhatsApp on March 5 prior to examination.
