SHILLONG, March 5 - Cracks seemed to have already surfaced within the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, with the HSPDP this evening saying it wont be part of any coalition which has the BJP in it, or is led by Conrad Sangma as the Chief Minister.

We will not be a part of any government that includes the BJP. We have always wanted a non-Congress and non-BJP government. Even without the BJP, the regional parties and the NPP can form the government, HSPDP president Ardent Basaiawmoit said here on Monday.

He expressed his disappointment with the UDP for taking a unilateral decision first by asking Conrad Sangma of the NPP to be the CM and then allowing the BJP to be part of the new government.

Basaiawmoit, who lost the election from Nongkrem, said the HSPDP was never consulted by its pre-poll allies before taking these crucial decisions. The HSPDP has won two seats and both are first-time legislators.
