HSLC toppers of Dibrugarh Don Bosco School feted

DIBRUGARH, May 18 - Labajyoti Das of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School here, who secured the fifth rank in this year�s HSLC examination, and other students of the educational institution, who scored high marks in various subjects, were accorded felicitation at the school auditorium by the staff, past pupils, students and parents today.

Fr Jose Karippai, the principal of the school, handed over a cash award of Rs 10,000 and a certificate of merit to Labajyoti Das who obtained an aggregate of 589 marks (98.16 per cent) to grab the fifth rank. Labajyoti Das, Aryan Deepak Upadhya and Shashanka Buragohain received a cash award of Rs 3,500 from Kaveri Bhuyan in memory of her brother, late Debashish Bhuyan, for scoring the highest marks in English.

The Don Bosco Alumni honoured all the successful students with certificates of merit. The president of the Past Pupils Association, Dimapur Province, Rajesh Singh, handed over the certificates. Satyabrata Sharma, president of the Past Pupils Association, Dibrugarh unit, was also present to felicitate the students.

Out of the 139 students of the school who appeared in the HSLC examination, 115 passed in the first division and 22 students were placed in the second division. Altogether 29 students secured distinction marks, while 36 students scored star marks. The students were also given a memento each by their teachers.

The felicitation function was accompanied by entertainment programmes like dance performances and musical renditions for bidding farewell to the successful students.

The principal and former principal Fr KC Vincent congratulated the parents, teachers and students on the success in the HSLC examination. Topper Labajyoti Das attributed his success to his parents, teachers and friends.
