HSLC Exam from Feb 19, reforms announced

GUWAHATI, July 20 � Henceforth, the routine for the High School leave Certificate (HSLC) Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) will be announced at least six months before the scheduled date.

Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made this announcement while releasing the examination schedule for next year including the routine.

�The HSLC Examination, 2013, will be held from February 19 to March 15 and the results will be declared on or before May 15,� the Minister announced while addressing the media today.

Admit cards for the HSLC Examination will be given to the candidates before November 20, he said. The schedule including the list of the examination centres, date for filling up of forms, and finalisation of the evaluation zones will also be completed before September 10.

While the examination centres will be identified on or before July 30, the candidates will be allowed to fill up the forms from September 1 to September 16. The evaluation zones will be finalised by September 30.

The Minister further stated that henceforth there will be no provision for change of examination centre, except for candidates who had to move out due to her marriage or due to the transfer of his or her guardian.

As part of the reforms, the provision for private candidates will also be abolished and all candidates will have to appear under the same bracket.

The Minister also said that the Board will print two sets of question papers and in case of a leak the second set could be easily made available.

Stating that a discussion will also take place between CBSE and SEBA officials for the improvement of the marking pattern, the Minister said, �From this year, the State Board will follow the NCERT books of Science and Maths.�
