HRD Minister to welcome Bangladesh PM

AGARTALA, Jan 8 � Union Minister for HRD Kapil Sibbal will receive Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Vice President Hamid Ansari at Agartala Airport on January 11, official sources said.

Hasina, who is scheduled to lead a 56-member Bangladesh delegation, will address business players of both countries at Prajna Bhavan the same day besides scheduled programmes � 9th convocation of Tripura Central University and civic reception at Assam Rifles Ground.

In both programmes, the Vice President will share the dias with the Bangladesh Prime Minister. Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, who had already paid a visit to the State, is also coming with the Prime Minister.

A Bangladesh flight carrying the Prime Minister will land at Agartala Airport around 3 pm and the airport authority is ready to welcome the first ever international flight, said S Maiti, Director of Airport Authority of India (AAI), Agartala here.

�We will open a temporary immigration centre and customs counter to ensure hassle-free travel of Bangladesh Prime Minister to the State�, he said.

The 60-seater Boeing aircraft of Bangladesh will be stationed and heavily guarded at the designated apron inside the Airport premises, he said adding that there would be no problem even in landing of the plane as the length of the run-way stands at 2,282 metres.

Though he did not specify the security measures, security arrangement will be beefed up at Agartala Airport the day before the arrival of the Bangladesh Prime Minister.

Additional deployment will be placed even around the airport area to avoid any kind of untoward incident, said a top security official on condition of anonymity. It may be noted that a seven-member team of Bangladesh security forces have been camping here for the past three days to look after the security arrangement for the high profile visit.
