Home for destitutes, vagrants inaugurated

DIPHU, Nov 17 � In connection with the Children�s Day celebration, a newly constructed home for destitute and vagrants by the Department of Social Welfare, KAAC was inaugurated formally recently at Diphu Taralangso.

The multi-storied building was inaugurated by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in the presence of Premala Beypi, EM for Social Welfare Department, KAAC, Ashok Teron, EM, i/c Health & Family Planning, Department, KAAC, Agriculture EM, KAAC, Mongal Sing Timung, Pradip Singnar, EM, i/c Forest Department, KAAC, Surja Rongphar, Deputy Chairman, KAAC. Mono Ranjan Gogoi, joint secretary, KAAC, Binapani, Deory, joint secretary, KAAC, Bina Phukan, District Programme Officer, ICDS, Diphu and Mohan Sing Tisso, Chairman, Diphu Town Committee.

On the occasion, an inaugural meeting was also organised in the newly-constructed complex where hundreds of local guardians, students and teachers participated.

While addressing the inaugural meeting, Tuliram Ronghang, CEM, KAAC urged all sections of people not to observe or call bandh in the district. He said that work culture has been badly affected in the district due to the bandh culture. As a result, development in every department has been affected badly.

Meanwhile, Ronghang lauded the Social Welfare EM, Premala Beypi for her innovative steps stress taken for the weaker children through the various social welfare schemes formulated by the Government.

Premala Beypi elaborately highlighted the hard efforts made for the destitutes and vagrant children in the district by the Social Welfare department.
