Holi festival from today

GUWAHATI, March 15 � Holi, the festival of colours and camaraderie would be celebrated in the State on March 16 and 17.

Along with the rest the of country, Guwahati is completely immersed in the Holi spirit with markets filled with Holi colours, colour sprayers and other Holi goodies that include different headgears, masks etc.

The State Government has declared March 17 as a local holiday on the occasion of Holi and Doul Jatra in Kamrup (Metro) district. All State Government offices, educational and financial institutions within Kamrup (Metro) will remain closed on March 17 on account of this holiday.

New Art Players, a socio-cultural organisation of the State, is celebrating Holi, by organising �Holi Milan� on March 16 from 5.30 pm at its project construction site near the Ambari traffic rotary, behind Kamrup Academy School.

Besides club members and its well-wishers, a Holi geet group of Barpeta has been exclusively invited to participate on the occasion, the organisers informed, adding, the general public would take part in the celebration.
