GUWAHATI, March 20 � Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm across the State along with the rest of the country.
The city, too, had its fair share of the festivities, with people coming out to the streets to celebrate the occasion. Holi-revellers could be seen descending on the streets with gusto and smearing and sprinkling colour on one another. Since few vehicles plied on the roads today, it added to the festivities on the roads. Residential areas also saw spirited celebration of Holi.
Some areas witnessed community Holi festivities where the young and the old jostled for space in celebrating the occasion in a befitting manner.
The traditional Doul Jatra utsav was also celebrated with religious fervour in many parts of the State.
The religious-minded visited the naamghars and temples in the morning to offer prayers.
