Himanta takes stock of Morigaon situation

MORIGAON, May 24 - Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, visited Morigaon today and took stock of the situation following return of over 500 migrant labourers from several states of the country.

The Health Minister paid an official visit to Morigaon Civil Hospital and took stock of the isolation and quarantine facility there. Talking to newsmen, Sarma said that as many as 550 people who were working in Morigaon but hailed from outside the state had returned in recent days. They were all quarantined and out of them 330 people�s blood samples were examined but found negative.

However, more people hailing from the district are expected to come in the coming days. In order to handle the situation, the state health department has set up several quarantine centres in the district, the Minister added.

Moreover, the state government today declared the Hindustan Paper Mill Hospital located at Jagiroad as a COVID-19 hospital where 40 beds are being kept ready for patients, he added.

The Health Minister was accompanied by Pijush Hazarika , Minister of State for Health and Rama Kanta Deori, MLA of Morigaon.
