Himanta resumes duty

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 25 Health, Education and Assam Accord Implementation Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today resumed his ministerial duties after a gap of ten days following his submission of resignation from the Ministry to the Governor on August 15.

According to official sources here, the Minister today cleared some of the files belonging to the Health Department at his Old MLA Hostel residence.

While remaining evasive on the withdrawal of his resignation letters, Sarma said that he has resumed his duties with effect from today.

It needs mention here that the Minister had tendered his resignation to the Governor on August 15 following his reported strained relations with the Chief Minister. He also submitted his letter of resignation from the MLAship too to the Speaker of the State Assembly.

However, after a ten-day-long suspense, the Minister met the Chief Minister late in the evening yesterday at his Koinadhara residence and indications were there that the resignation letters of the Minister would be ignored and thus his resuming office as the Minister would be facilitated.
