Himanta files papers from Jalukbari

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 25 State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today filed his nomination as a Congress candidate from Jalukbari constituency for the ensuing Assembly election in the State.

Sarma filed his nomination around noon in the office of the Returning Officer located in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro).

Prior to filing of nomination, thousands of supporters took part in a procession shouting pro-Congress slogans near Latasil playground which led to traffic snarls in the locality for hours.

The supporters also entered into a scuffle with some of the policemen regulating the vehicular traffic.

The political processions taken out prior to filing of nominations have been compounding the woes of the commuters for the last few days with movement of vehicles coming to a standstill for hours.

This has not gone down well with the citizens who feel that the politicians have no right to disrupt the peoples routine for the sake of showing their political strength before the polls.
