Himanta addresses rally at Howraghat

DIPHU, June 6 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its election campaign for its candidates for the ensuing Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election, which is slated to be held on June 17.

A massive election campaign rally was held at Belogury of Howraghat MAC constituency today, which was addressed by State Finance, Health and Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. While addressing the rally, the BJP star campaigner claimed that peace and all-round developments have taken place in every district of the State, including the hill district of Karbi Anglong.

While referring to the promises made during the Assembly election by the BJP, Sarma said that the State government has provided 200 Scooties to the college-going students as per the promise. Besides highlighting the steps taken by the government, Dr Sarma added that the government has given maximum importance to the health and education sectors, including road connectivity, supply of drinking water etc. The BJP-led government is committed to ensure equal rights and facilities among every caste and creed, he said and added that no community living in the district has to worry.

Speaking on employment generation, the State Finance minister said that around 3000 LP school teachers� posts have been lying vacant in the district and these will be filled up immediately. He further said that the Hills Medical College is likely to be inaugurated in December next, where a number of posts of grade IV, III and others will be generated and the local educated unemployed youths will be recruited in these vacant posts.

Moreover, the registered Self Help Groups (SHGs) will be provided financial assistance as per the promises made by the government earlier, Sarma said.

Dr Sarma urged all communities to vote in favour of BJP candidates in the ensuing KAAC election.
