GUWAHATI, July 21 � IM Himanshu Sharma of Railways won the top prize with 8.5 points in the 10-round first Assam International Fide Rating Tournament which ended yesterday at the T Aao Indoor Stadium, Cotton College here. Himanshu won a cash prize of rupees one lakh along with the trophy. A total prize money of rupees four lakhs was at stake in the meet. The second and third positions went to Kulkarni Rakesh of Maharashtra and IM Thejkumar MS of Karnataka with 8 points each. For Assam, Santanu Borpatra Gohain claimed the 18th spot with 7 points, while Rajib Dhar, Nandan Buragohain, Soram Rahul Singh, Amlan Mahanta, Projit Phukan and Rajdip Das managed the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28th, 29th, and 30th spots respectively with 6.5 points each.
