High-level probe into APSC exams urged

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 29 The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) today demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter of gross anomalies and corruption in the Combined Competitive Examinations conducted by the APSC in 2013.

Also demanding the removal of APSC chairman Rakesh Pal and introducing a system of checks and balances in the entire process of APSC examination, AJYCP president Manoj Baruah said that anomalies were a regular phenomenon in the APSC which got aggravated in the absence of remedial measures.

Addressing the media here, the AJYCP president said that protesting against the State governments patronage to such large-scale corruption, the Parishad would register a strong protest in Guwahati on June 5.

In one case where a candidate approached the Gauhati High Court in 2013, it was found that in one paper of Education, the candidate was not given any mark by the examiner. Strangely enough, the scrutinisers also did not take any action on that. Citing reference of the case number WP(C) 4962/2013, Baruah said that both the examiner and the scrutiniser in their explanation called it an unfortunate human error that happened unconsciously.

It is only one example, where a candidate is not given any mark and the examiners plead innocence in the name of human error. Such deliberate attempt to deprive the deserving candidates is a part of the deep-rooted corruption in APSC, he said, adding, in its protest action on June 5, the Parishad would also raise the issue of 100 per cent recruitment of local candidates in all government and non-government organisations.
