High-level CRPF team reviews security scenario

JORHAT, June 30 - A high-level CRPF team led by Additional Director General (North-Eastern Zone) Mohammed Jawed Akhtar along with IG (Operational Sector Jorhat) Ajay Kumar Yadav visited Sonitpur and Itanagar from June 24 to 27.

A press release issued by the CRPF camp based at Rowriah here stated that the team reviewed the general security scenario of the areas with CRPF officers in a meeting held at Chariduar during the visit.

The release stated that the preparedness of the forces to deal with any emergent law and order situation after publication of the final draft of NRC and also situation regarding Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 were discussed in the meeting.

The alarming flood situation in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts where CRPF personnel were deployed, too was discussed and the ADG gave necessary instructions to the officers to extend all possible assistance to the local administration in relief and rescue efforts during the floods.

The CRPF team during their visit to Itanagar held discussion with the DGP of Arunachal Pradesh SBK Singh relating to security measures and land acquisition for establishing unit headquarter of CRPF in Arunachal Pradesh, the release stated.

Representatives from Arunachal Pradesh Government too attended the meeting.
